24-inch FHD 144Hz IPS monitor with USB-C
MSI PRO MP242 E14C 24" FHD Monitor, 144Hz IPS, USB-C
A 23.8-inch Full HD IPS monitor in black that docks a laptop over one USB-C cable and games at 144Hz after hours. The IPS panel holds 178° viewing angles, 300 cd/m², 1500:1 contrast and 110% sRGB, with AMD FreeSync across a 48~144Hz range, 1ms MPRT and HDR Ready. USB-C carries video over DP Alt Mode and 15W of Power Delivery, HDMI 2.0 takes a second machine, two 2W speakers and a headphone output handle calls, and a PerfectEdge four-side slim bezel suits multi-screen desks. MSI EyesErgo eye care, a 100 x 100 mm VESA mount, an accessory slot and ENERGY STAR certification complete it.

Key Features
One-Cable Display and Power Delivery
The USB-C port carries video over DisplayPort Alt Mode, data, and 15W of Power Delivery, so a laptop connects with a single cable and the included USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C lead. HDMI 2.0 takes a desktop or console alongside, two 2W built-in speakers and a headphone output cover calls and video, and firmware updates arrive over the same USB-C connection.
144Hz + 1ms MPRT + AMD FreeSync, on IPS
An IPS panel keeps colour and brightness consistent across the full width and 178° either way, while 144Hz with AMD FreeSync over a 48~144Hz range delivers frames without tearing and 1ms MPRT keeps motion clean. 300 cd/m², 1500:1 contrast, 110% sRGB and HDR Ready give video and dark-mode interfaces depth beyond a basic office screen.
PerfectEdge, EyesErgo and a Tidy Desk
A four-side slim bezel with a 92% screen-to-body ratio makes two or three screens read as one, and TÜV certified Anti-Flicker and Less Blue Light with Eye-Q Check in the OSD look after your eyes through the day. The 100 x 100 mm VESA mount takes an MSI Cubi mini PC that MSI Power Link can wake from the monitor's button, and the accessory slot keeps cables and adapters off the desk.
Detailed Specifications
Specifications as published by MSI in the PRO MP242 E14C datasheet (available below) and on the MSI product and specification pages.
Need-to-Know
- USB-C Power Delivery is 15W. That keeps a phone or tablet topped up while it drives the screen; most laptops need more than 15W to charge, so keep the laptop's own charger for anything beyond light use.
- The stand tilts only, from -5° to 20°. For any other adjustment use the 100 x 100 mm VESA mount.
- MSI lists KVM and PIP / PBP as NOT supported. Two machines can share the screen (one on HDMI, one on USB-C) by switching source, but a keyboard and mouse will not follow.
- HDR support is listed as HDR Ready. MSI publishes no certified HDR level for this model, so treat it as HDR signal compatibility rather than a certified HDR panel.
- Firmware updates run over the USB-C connection, not HDMI — the included Type-C cable is the one to use for them.
- The 92% screen-to-body ratio and the 37.5% slimmer bezel are MSI's own figures for the PerfectEdge design; MSI does not publish the bezel width in millimetres.
Best For / Customer Benefits
Customer Benefits
- One USB-C cable carries the picture and 15W of charge to a laptop, so docking in the morning is a single connection.
- Two 2W speakers and a headphone output mean a video call needs nothing else on the desk.
- AMD FreeSync across the full 48-144Hz range keeps motion smooth even when a game's frame rate dips, not just at the top end.
- The PerfectEdge four-side slim bezel makes a multi-monitor desk read as one wide surface rather than a row of frames.
- Firmware updates run over the USB-C cable itself, so a fix from MSI does not need a service visit or a USB stick.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, for video and data. The USB-C port carries the picture over DisplayPort Alt Mode at 1920 x 1080 up to 144Hz and supplies 15W of Power Delivery back to the laptop, using the USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C cable MSI includes. Fifteen watts is enough to slow the battery drain or keep an ultralight notebook level at light loads, but it is well short of what most laptops draw, so keep the laptop's charger for real work. Your laptop must support DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C.
Yes — two 2W speakers are built in, enough for calls, video and system sounds without a separate desk speaker, plus a 3.5 mm headphone output for private listening. That is a real difference from the PRO MP241 E14V, which has no built-in audio.
MSI lists AMD FreeSync with an activated range of 48~144Hz, and both HDMI 2.0 and USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode) carry 1920 x 1080 at up to 144Hz. Your graphics card and driver settings decide which input negotiates adaptive sync, so enable it in the driver as well as in the monitor's OSD.
MSI lists one HDMI cable (1.4), one USB Type-C cable (USB 3.2 Gen 1), one power adaptor, one power cord (C13) and a quick guide. Both video connections are covered out of the box, and the Type-C cable is also the one firmware updates run over.
Same 23.8-inch Full HD 144Hz FreeSync formula, but the MP242 E14C swaps the VA panel for IPS (178° viewing, 300 cd/m², 1500:1 contrast rather than 3500:1), replaces the DisplayPort input with USB-C carrying video and 15W Power Delivery, adds two 2W speakers and a headphone output, and trims the bezel on all four sides. Choose the MP242 E14C for a laptop desk or a multi-screen setup; the MP241 E14V for deeper contrast at a lower price point.
