It uses genuine Canon Toner 3001 cartridges in Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (BK/C/M/Y). Estimated yield at 8.5% coverage is approx. 37,500 pages for Black and approx. 27,500 pages each for Cyan, Magenta and Yellow.

imageFORCE is Canon's current-generation, unified printer platform that succeeds the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX (A3) and imageCLASS X (A4) lines. The C7165 delivers the same class of A3 colour multifunction performance Canon's imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX models were known for, plus higher print quality (4,800 x 2,400 dpi) and long-sheet printing up to 1,300mm — aimed at offices that also produce in-house marketing and creative materials alongside everyday document management.

ppm (pages per minute) measures print and copy output — the number of physical pages the engine produces, e.g. the C7165 prints and copies at up to 65 ppm (A4). ipm (images per minute) measures scanning — the number of individual page images captured, which is why the C7165's scanner is rated up to 270 ipm (2-sided, at 300 x 300 dpi) even though a 2-sided pass only feeds half as many physical sheets per minute.

Fax is available as an optional add-on (Super G3, up to 2 connection lines) — it isn't fitted as standard, since the built-in Send functionality (E-mail/Internet FAX, SMB, FTP, WebDAV, Mail Box) already covers most digital document workflows out of the box.
