Ubiquiti UniFi Switching
Ubiquiti UniFi WAN Switch RJ45 (USW-WAN-RJ45)
The UniFi WAN Switch RJ45 is a 10 GbE WAN switch that links two Shadow Mode High Availability UniFi Gateways to a single ISP. It has one 10 GbE ISP uplink, two 10 GbE downlink ports and a GbE port for management in UniFi Network, with two AC inputs for power redundancy in a 1U rack-mount steel enclosure.
Quick Glance
Key Features
One ISP link shared by two High Availability gateways
Built to be combined with Shadow Mode High Availability for uninterrupted connectivity: the ISP connects to the 10 GbE uplink port and the two UniFi Gateways connect to the two 10 GbE downlink ports. Ubiquiti notes that deployments with multiple ISPs, or ISP failover, use an additional USW-WAN-RJ45 switch.
Redundant power from two AC inputs
Two internal 36W AC/DC power supplies, each a universal 100–240V AC, 50/60 Hz input, give the switch power redundancy so the WAN link is not tied to a single power feed. Ubiquiti gives a maximum power consumption of 18W.
10 GbE ports with a separate GbE management port
Three 10 GbE RJ45 ports (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M) carry the ISP uplink and gateway downlinks, and one 1 GbE RJ45 port (1G/100M/10M) is used for management with UniFi Network, version 9.1.120 and later. Switching capacity is 20 Gbps, with 10 Gbps non-blocking throughput and a 15 Mpps forwarding rate.
Detailed Specifications
Specifications are Ubiquiti's own, from its official tech specs and store listing for the UniFi WAN Switch RJ45 (USW-WAN-RJ45). Ubiquiti gives the weight both with and without mounting brackets. Ubiquiti may update specifications without notice.
Need-to-Know
- The WAN Switch RJ45 is built for Shadow Mode High Availability: it links two UniFi Gateways to a single ISP. Ubiquiti's spec does not list which gateway models support Shadow Mode, so confirm your gateways before ordering.
- One switch serves one ISP. Ubiquiti states that deployments with multiple ISPs, or ISP failover, need an additional USW-WAN-RJ45 switch.
- Ubiquiti's spec lists RJ45 ports only: three 10 GbE and one 1 GbE. It lists no SFP port and no PoE output on this model.
- Power redundancy comes from two AC inputs with two internal 36W power supplies. Ubiquiti does not state the plug type of the power cords.
- Ubiquiti rates the ambient operating temperature at -5 to 40° C, so install it in an air-conditioned rack or comms room rather than an unventilated cabinet.

Customer Benefits
- Expert help planning a Shadow Mode High Availability design, including how many WAN switches your ISPs need.
- Two AC inputs so one failed power feed does not take the WAN link down.
- 10 GbE ISP uplink and gateway downlinks, managed in the same UniFi Network application as the rest of the network.
- VAT invoice issued with every order for UAE business buyers.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is a 10 GbE WAN switch that links two Shadow Mode High Availability UniFi Gateways to a single ISP. The ISP connects to its 10 GbE uplink port and each gateway to one of its two 10 GbE downlink ports, so the ISP connection stays available to whichever gateway is active.
Yes. Ubiquiti states that deployments with multiple ISPs, or ISP failover, use an additional USW-WAN-RJ45 switch. One switch handles the link between one ISP and the two High Availability gateways.
Three 10 GbE RJ45 ports (10G/5G/2.5G/1G/100M), used as one ISP uplink and two downlinks, plus one 1 GbE RJ45 port (1G/100M/10M) for management with UniFi Network. Ubiquiti lists no SFP port and no PoE output.
Through two AC inputs for power redundancy. Each is a universal 100–240V AC, 50/60 Hz input feeding an internal 36W AC/DC power supply, and Ubiquiti gives a maximum power consumption of 18W. Ubiquiti does not state the power cord plug type.
UniFi Network version 9.1.120 and later. The switch is managed over Ethernet through its dedicated GbE management port.
