Ubiquiti UniFi UNAS 2 Network Attached Storage
The Ubiquiti UNAS 2 is UniFi network attached storage with two 3.5" HDD bays, 2.5 GbE networking, USB-C connectivity and an included PoE++ adapter, all in a compact desktop footprint. It runs UniFi Drive on a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor with 4 GB of memory, supports RAID 1, SMB and NFS, and backs up to a remote UNAS, an SMB server or cloud services. Available in Black and White.
Quick Glance
Key Features
Two 3.5" bays with RAID 1 and file encryption
Two 3.5" HDD bays with a drive power budget of up to 52W. Ubiquiti lists RAID 1 in a single RAID group, file encryption, snapshots and personal and shared drives, managed in UniFi Drive. Drives are chosen and fitted separately.
2.5 GbE, USB-C and a single-cable power option
A 2.5 GbE RJ45 port (2.5G/1G/100M/10M) connects the UNAS 2 to the network, and a 5 Gbps USB-C expansion port supports a USB drive. It is powered by PoE++, and Ubiquiti includes a 60W PoE++ adapter, so it can run from the adapter or from a suitable PoE++ source.
File sharing and backup for UniFi sites
SMB and NFS file protocols, share links, user groups, Time Machine backup and client app support. Backups can go to a remote UNAS, a CIFS/SMB server, or cloud services including Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Backblaze B2 and Wasabi.
Detailed Specifications
Specifications are Ubiquiti's own, from its technical specification and store pages for the UNAS 2, and apply to both the Black (UNAS-2-B) and White (UNAS-2-W) versions. Hard drives are not listed as part of the unit. Software features are as Ubiquiti lists them for UniFi Drive 3.1.7 and later.
Need-to-Know
The UNAS 2 comes in two housing colours. Ubiquiti publishes one specification for both, so choose by the finish that suits the room.
- Ubiquiti specifies two 3.5" HDD bays and lists no drives as part of the UNAS 2. Hard drives are chosen and fitted separately - ask AtomOffice which drives suit your storage needs.
- The UNAS 2 is powered by PoE++. Ubiquiti includes a 60W PoE++ adapter; to run it from a switch instead, the port must supply PoE++ (Ubiquiti lists a maximum power consumption of 60W).
- Ubiquiti lists RAID 1 as the supported RAID type, in a single RAID group. Feature support is as Ubiquiti lists it on unifi.ui.com for UniFi Drive 3.1.7 and later.
- The USB-C expansion port is rated 5 Gbps and Ubiquiti lists USB drive support; its power budget is 4.5W maximum, excluding cable loss.
| Part Number | Colour | Drive Bays | Networking |
|---|---|---|---|
| UNAS-2-B | Black | 2 x 3.5" HDD | 2.5 GbE RJ45 |
| UNAS-2-W | White | 2 x 3.5" HDD | 2.5 GbE RJ45 |
Both colours share Ubiquiti's single published specification table; only the housing colour differs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ubiquiti's specification lists two 3.5" HDD bays and does not list any drives as part of the UNAS 2. Plan to choose and fit drives separately; AtomOffice can help you choose drives for the capacity you need.
By PoE++. Ubiquiti includes a 60W PoE++ adapter, so it runs from the adapter out of the box, or from a switch port that supplies PoE++. Ubiquiti lists a maximum power consumption of 60W and a drive power budget of 52W.
Ubiquiti lists RAID 1 in a single RAID group, SMB and NFS file protocols, personal and shared drives, file encryption, snapshots, share links, user groups and Time Machine backup, managed through UniFi Drive.
Ubiquiti lists backup to a remote UNAS, to a CIFS/SMB server, and to cloud services including Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Backblaze B2 and Wasabi.
Only the housing colour: UNAS-2-B is Black and UNAS-2-W is White. Ubiquiti publishes one specification for both, so drive bays, networking, power and software features are the same.
