Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Pro Max 48 PoE (USW-Pro-Max-48-PoE)
A 48-port, Layer 3 Etherlighting switch with 2.5 GbE and PoE++ output. Thirty-two GbE and sixteen 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports all supply PoE, 32 at PoE+ and 16 at PoE++, from 720W of total PoE, with four 10G SFP+ uplinks and 224 Gbps switching capacity. The 1U rack-mount chassis has a 1.3" touchscreen and is DC power backup ready with the UniFi RPS. It is managed in UniFi Network 8.0.24 and later.
Quick Glance
Key Features
PoE on all 48 ports, 720W total
Sixteen ports deliver PoE++ at up to 64W per port (eight GbE and eight 2.5 GbE) and the other 32 deliver PoE+ at up to 32W per port, from a shared 720W total PoE budget. The internal 870W AC/DC supply runs from 100–240V AC; maximum power consumption is 820W including PoE output.
2.5 GbE, four 10G SFP+ uplinks and Layer 3
Sixteen 2.5 GbE and thirty-two 1 GbE RJ45 ports plus four 10G SFP+ ports give 224 Gbps switching capacity, 112 Gbps non-blocking throughput and a 167 Mpps forwarding rate, with a 32,000-entry MAC table. Layer 3 features include a DHCP server and relay, inter-VLAN routing and up to 256 IPv4 static routes, plus Pro AV profiles.
Etherlighting with DC power backup ready
Etherlighting ports illuminate to show port location, speed/link and native VLAN/network, and a 1.3" touchscreen sits on the front. A USP RPS DC input gives DC power backup with the UniFi RPS. The SGCC steel 1U chassis measures 442.4 x 400 x 44 mm and weighs 6.3 kg with mounting brackets.
Detailed Specifications
Specifications are from Ubiquiti's official technical specifications and store listing for the Switch Pro Max 48 PoE (USW-Pro-Max-48-PoE). Total PoE is shared across all PoE ports; per-port maximums apply within the 720W total.
Need-to-Know
- The 720W total PoE is shared across all 48 RJ45 ports: up to 64W per PoE++ port and up to 32W per PoE+ port, within that total.
- PoE split as Ubiquiti lists it: of the 32 GbE ports, 24 are PoE+ and 8 are PoE++; of the 16 2.5 GbE ports, 8 are PoE+ and 8 are PoE++.
- DC power backup works with the UniFi RPS, connected through the switch's USP RPS DC input. The RPS is a separate Ubiquiti product.
- For optimal Etherlighting brightness Ubiquiti recommends pairing the switch with UniFi Etherlighting Patch Cables.
- Layer 3 features listed are DHCP server and relay, inter-VLAN routing and static routing (256 IPv4 static routes). Ubiquiti's specification lists no dynamic routing protocol for this switch.
- Ubiquiti rates the ambient operating temperature at -5 to 40° C. Plan rack cooling accordingly in UAE server rooms. Ubiquiti does not state the power cord plug type.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ubiquiti lists 720W of total PoE availability. Sixteen ports are PoE++ at up to 64W per port and 32 are PoE+ at up to 32W per port, all drawing from that shared total.
Thirty-two 1 GbE RJ45 ports (24 PoE+ and 8 PoE++), sixteen 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports (8 PoE+ and 8 PoE++) and four 10G SFP+ ports that also run at 1G.
Besides its internal 100–240V AC power supply, the switch has a USP RPS DC input. Connected to the UniFi RPS, it can take DC power backup. Ubiquiti lists this as redundancy with the UniFi RPS, which is a separate product.
Yes. Ubiquiti lists Layer 3 with a DHCP server and DHCP relay, inter-VLAN routing and static routing for local networks, with up to 256 IPv4 static routes. No dynamic routing protocol is listed in Ubiquiti's specification.
It is a 1U rack-mount switch measuring 442.4 x 400 x 44 mm, and Ubiquiti lists a supported rack depth of 400 to 1200 mm. Weight is 6.3 kg with mounting brackets.
