Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Pro Max 16 PoE (USW-Pro-Max-16-PoE)
A 16-port, Layer 3 Etherlighting switch with 2.5 GbE, PoE++ output and versatile mounting options. Twelve GbE PoE+ ports and four 2.5 GbE PoE++ ports share 180W of total PoE, with two 10G SFP+ uplinks and 84 Gbps switching capacity. Silent, fanless cooling and desktop, wall or 1U rack mounting (the rack option needs Ubiquiti's add-on Rack Mount accessory) suit offices and small server rooms alike. It is managed in UniFi Network 8.1.127 and later.
Quick Glance
Key Features
PoE+ and PoE++ from 16 ports, 180W total
All twelve GbE ports deliver PoE+ (up to 32W per port) and all four 2.5 GbE ports deliver PoE++ (up to 60W per port), from a shared 180W total PoE budget. Power comes from an external 210W AC/DC supply; maximum power consumption is 25W excluding PoE output and 210W including it.
2.5 GbE, 10G SFP+ uplinks and Layer 3
Four 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports and two 10G SFP+ ports give 84 Gbps switching capacity, 42 Gbps non-blocking throughput and a 62 Mpps forwarding rate. Layer 3 features include a DHCP server and relay, inter-VLAN routing and up to 256 IPv4 static routes, plus Pro AV profiles for Dante, Q-SYS, NDI and more.
Etherlighting, fanless and flexible to mount
Etherlighting ports illuminate to show port location, speed/link and native VLAN/network, and a 1.3" touchscreen sits on the front. The fanless SGCC steel unit measures 325.1 x 160 x 43.7 mm and weighs 2.1 kg, and mounts on a desk, a wall or in a 1U rack with the add-on Rack Mount accessory.
Detailed Specifications
Specifications are from Ubiquiti's official technical specifications and store listing for the Switch Pro Max 16 PoE (USW-Pro-Max-16-PoE). Total PoE is shared across all PoE ports; per-port maximums apply within the 180W total.
Need-to-Know
- The 180W total PoE is shared across all 16 RJ45 ports: up to 32W per PoE+ port and up to 60W per PoE++ port, within that total.
- 1U rack mounting requires Ubiquiti's add-on Rack Mount accessory, sold separately. Ubiquiti also lists desktop and wall mounting.
- Power comes from an external 210W AC/DC supply (Ubiquiti lists the power method as an AC adapter). Ubiquiti does not state the plug type.
- For optimal Etherlighting brightness Ubiquiti recommends pairing the switch with UniFi Etherlighting Patch Cables.
- Layer 3 features listed are DHCP server and relay, inter-VLAN routing and static routing (256 IPv4 static routes). Ubiquiti's specification lists no dynamic routing protocol for this switch.
- Ubiquiti rates the ambient operating temperature at -5 to 40° C. As a fanless unit, give it airflow in UAE cabinets and ceiling spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ubiquiti lists 180W of total PoE availability. The twelve GbE ports are PoE+ at up to 32W per port and the four 2.5 GbE ports are PoE++ at up to 60W per port, all drawing from that shared total.
Twelve 1 GbE RJ45 ports (all PoE+), four 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports (all PoE++) and two 10G SFP+ ports that also run at 1G. That is 16 RJ45 ports plus two SFP+ uplinks.
Yes, as a 1U rack-mount switch, but Ubiquiti states rack mounting requires its add-on Rack Mount accessory. Without it the switch sits on a desk or mounts on a wall. It measures 325.1 x 160 x 43.7 mm.
Yes. Ubiquiti lists Layer 3 with a DHCP server and DHCP relay, inter-VLAN routing and static routing for local networks, with up to 256 IPv4 static routes. No dynamic routing protocol is listed in Ubiquiti's specification.
No. Ubiquiti describes a silent, fanless cooling system, which makes it a fit for offices and other spaces where people work near the switch.
