Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Flex (USW-Flex)
The Switch Flex is a flexible 5-port, Layer 2 PoE switch from Ubiquiti for indoor and outdoor use. It is powered over one PoE++ input port and passes power on through four PoE+ ports, with up to 46W of PoE available when fed by a PoE++ switch or a 60W PoE adapter (sold separately). It mounts on a desk, wall or pole and is managed in the UniFi Network application, version 5.10.3 and later.
Quick Glance
Key Features
Powered by PoE, powers four devices
The switch takes its own power over one PoE++ input port, so it needs no mains socket where it is installed. Its four GbE PoE+ ports supply up to 25W each. Total PoE availability is 46W with a PoE++ switch or 60W PoE adapter (sold separately), 20W from a PoE+ source and 8W from a PoE source.
Indoor and outdoor, desk, wall or pole
Ubiquiti lists it as outdoor ready, and at 122.5 x 107.1 x 28 mm and 230 g it fits on a desk, a wall or a pole (pole mounting requires the USW-Flex-Utility accessory). It is rated -40 to 55° C at 46W PoE output and -40 to 65° C at 25W PoE output.
Layer 2 control in UniFi Network
Managed from the UniFi Network application (5.10.3 and later), it supports up to 1,000 VLANs, port isolation, port mirroring, egress rate limiting, flow control and jumbo frames. Ubiquiti rates switching capacity at 10 Gbps, non-blocking throughput at 5 Gbps and the forwarding rate at 7 Mpps.
Detailed Specifications
Specifications are from Ubiquiti's official tech specs and store listing for the Switch Flex (USW-Flex). The 46W PoE figure applies when powered by a PoE++ switch or a 60W PoE adapter, which is sold separately. Ubiquiti may update specifications without notice.
Need-to-Know
- The Switch Flex has no mains power input: it is powered over its PoE++ port. The 60W PoE adapter is sold separately, so feed it from a PoE++ switch or order the adapter.
- Available PoE depends on the input: 46W from a PoE++ switch or 60W PoE adapter, 20W from a PoE+ source and 8W from a PoE source. Each PoE+ output port supplies up to 25W.
- Of the five GbE ports, one is the PoE++ input and four are PoE+ outputs.
- Pole mounting requires the USW-Flex-Utility accessory, which is a separate product.
- Ubiquiti lists the switch as outdoor ready and rates it -40 to 55° C at 46W PoE output, or -40 to 65° C at 25W PoE output. Ubiquiti does not state an IP rating.
