    The Air 8 and the Reader 8 share the same OCR engine and battery, and differ mainly in how they connect and how much they store.

    • Scanning is over Bluetooth, not USB — the included USB-C cable is for charging, not for a wired data connection. For a wired-only pen, see the IRISPen Reader 8.
    • The Bluetooth headset shown in IRIS's specifications is not included in the box.
    • DYS Text to Speech (9 languages) and Photo/Scan Translation (16 languages) each cover fewer languages than the 48-language offline OCR — check your language is on the shorter list before buying for translation or read-aloud use.
    • This is a line-scanning pen, not a page scanner. It reads one line of text at a time; it does not capture a full page like a sheet-fed or camera scanner.
