Genuine HID FARGO UltraCard 081758 blank cards: CR-80, 10 mil, 100% PVC, 1,000 cards per box. HID calls the 10 mil card ideal for use as business cards — a thinner, lower-cost blank for high-volume printing where the card does not have to survive a lanyard and a year in a pocket.

- HID lists 081758 in the consumables specification sheets for all four DTC printers above, and states UltraCard PVC cards are compatible with HID inkjet printers or any brand of direct-to-card (DTC) printer
- At 10 mil these cards are thin — roughly a third the thickness of a standard 30 mil badge. For staff badges that get worn daily, order the 30 mil 081754 instead. They are also not suitable for the DTC4500e lamination module, for which HID recommends composite cards

Frequently Asked Questions
Check the card specification in your printer’s consumables sheet. For the FARGO DTC1250e and DTC4500e, HID states CR-80 or CR-79, 9 mil to 40 mil, PVC or polyester with a polished PVC finish — the 081758 is CR-80, 10 mil, 100% PVC, comfortably inside that. Send us a photo of your printer’s model badge on WhatsApp and we will confirm before you order. HID writes this part number with a leading zero, 081758, but you will also see it written 81758 on invoices and supplier quotes — same card either way.
A mil is one thousandth of an inch, so 10 mil is roughly a third the thickness of the standard 30 mil badge. HID positions the 10 mil card as ideal for use as business cards. It prints exactly the same, but it will not stand up to being clipped to a lanyard and flexed every day — for that, order the 30 mil 081754.
HID lists 081758 in the consumables specification sheets for the DTC1250e, DTC1500, DTC4250e and DTC4500e, and states more broadly that UltraCard PVC cards work with HID inkjet printers or any brand of direct-to-card printer, plus the HID FARGO INK1000 and HID ELEMENT. One caveat: HID does not recommend PVC cards in the DTC4500e lamination module.
No — the 081758 is a plain non-technology card. HID’s magnetic-stripe options are all 30 mil: 081751 with a high-coercivity (2750 Oe) stripe and 081750 with a low-coercivity (300 Oe) stripe. Ask us and we will source either.
HID states that FARGO card printers and encoders require highly specialised media to function properly, and that HID warranties are void, where not prohibited by law, when non-HID consumables are used. On a machine where the printhead is the expensive part, that is the whole argument: the media runs against the printhead on every card.
