The genuine HID FARGO 084921 YMCK ribbon for the FARGO HDP6600: full colour with a resin black panel, 750 images per roll. The HDP6600 is HID’s 600 dpi retransfer printer — twice the resolution of the HDP5000 — and this is its standard full-colour ribbon.

Frequently Asked Questions
Open the printer’s ribbon bay — the part number is on the label at the end of the core and on the retail box. On a FARGO HDP6600 the standard full-colour ribbon is 084921. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm before you order. HID writes this part number with a leading zero, 084921, but you will also see it written 84921 on invoices and supplier quotes — same ribbon either way.
The HID FARGO HDP6600 only. HID lists it in that printer’s consumables specification sheet. The HDP5000 and HDP5000e use 084511 for the equivalent YMCK ribbon at 500 images, and the direct-to-card DTC printers use an entirely different family.
Because it does not print onto the card. The ribbon prints the image onto clear HDP film, and the film is then fused onto the card under heat. That is what lets the HDP6600 print full-bleed at 600 dpi over the uneven surface of a chip card. You consume both: ribbon 084921 and film 084900.
HID recommends cleaning the FARGO HDP6600 every 1,000 cards — note that this differs from the DTC printers, where the recommendation is at each ribbon change. The matching kit is 088933, with cleaning rollers 086004 (10-pack) or 088932 (20-pack).
HID states that FARGO card printers and encoders require highly specialised media to function properly, and that HID warranties are void, where not prohibited by law, when non-HID consumables are used. On a machine where the printhead is the expensive part, that is the whole argument: the media runs against the printhead on every card.
You may see the HDP6600 YMCK ribbon quoted as 84911 — the number several UAE suppliers still list it under. HID’s current HDP6600 specification sheet lists the YMCK ribbon as 084921, with the same 750-image yield and the same description. HID does not publish a cross-reference between the two numbers, and its consumables sheets carry the note that part numbers may vary by region, so we do not claim one formally replaces the other. If your records say 84911, tell us and we will confirm the exact part that ships before you order.
