HID FARGO 084900 Clear HDP Film for HDP6600 — approx. 1,500 Images

Genuine HID FARGO 084900 Clear HDP Film for the FARGO HDP6600 — approximately 1,500 images per roll. The clear panelised film the printer prints onto and then fuses to the card. HID states HDP film for the HDP6600 is currently available in clear only, so this is the film for that printer.

The Only Film HID Lists for the HDP6600

No holographic variant exists for this printer — HID states HDP film for the HDP6600 is currently available in clear only, which makes ordering simple and substitution impossible.

600 dpi, Edge to Edge

Because the image is fused from film rather than printed onto the card, HID states retransfer produces crisp 600 dpi images even on the surface of technology cards.

Roughly Two Ribbons per Roll

At HID’s published yields — 750 images per 084921 YMCK ribbon and approximately 1,500 per film roll — one film covers about two colour ribbons. Order in that ratio.

  • HID FARGO HDP6600 retransfer card printer / encoder
  • HID lists 084900 in the HDP6600 consumables specification sheet as the clear panelised film for that printer
  • The HDP5000 and HDP5000e use a different film — HID lists 084500 for those. The two are not interchangeable

On the HDP6600, visible card security comes from the PolyGuard LMX overlaminate rather than from the film — HID publishes the film in clear only.

The part number is on the roll and on the retail box. For the FARGO HDP6600, HID lists clear film as 084900; the HDP5000 and HDP5000e use 084500. Send us a photo of your printer’s model badge on WhatsApp and we will confirm before you order. HID writes this part number with a leading zero, 084900, but you will also see it written 84900 on invoices and supplier quotes — same film either way.

It is the clear film a retransfer printer prints onto before fusing the image to the card. High Definition Printing works in two stages — ribbon to film, film to card — which is what allows a full-bleed 600 dpi image over an uneven chip card surface. Without film the printer cannot print.

At HID’s published yields, roughly one film to two colour ribbons: the YMCK ribbon 084921 gives 750 images and this film gives approximately 1,500. If you run the 084917 black resin ribbon at 3,000 images, you will need two films per ribbon instead.

Not for the HDP6600 — HID states HDP film for that printer is currently available in clear only. Visible card security on the HDP6600 comes from the PolyGuard LMX overlaminates instead, such as 082702 with the High Secure Orbit design.

HID states that FARGO card printers and encoders require highly specialised media to function properly, and that HID warranties are void, where not prohibited by law, when non-HID consumables are used. On a machine where the printhead is the expensive part, that is the whole argument: the media runs against the printhead on every card.
