HID FARGO 084511 HDP5000 YMCK Ribbon — 500 Images
The genuine HID FARGO 084511 YMCK ribbon for the FARGO HDP5000 and HDP5000e: full colour with a resin black panel, 500 images per roll. On a retransfer printer the ribbon prints onto HDP film rather than onto the card, which is how the HDP5000 puts a vibrant 300 dpi image across the whole card — even over the bumps of an embedded chip.

The image is printed onto HDP film first, then fused onto the card. HID’s point is that this produces durable, tamper-resistant cards with vibrant 300 dpi images even on the surface of technology cards.
Full Colour Plus Resin Black
Yellow, magenta and cyan dye-sublimation panels for the photo, plus a resin black panel for text and barcodes — 500 printed cards per roll.
Needs HDP Film to Print
A retransfer printer consumes ribbon and film together. HID pairs this ribbon with 084500 Clear HDP Film, approximately 1,500 images — order both.

Frequently Asked Questions
Open the printer’s ribbon bay — the part number is on the label at the end of the core and on the retail box. On a FARGO HDP5000 or HDP5000e the standard full-colour ribbon is 084511. HID notes the current range fits HDP5000 models 2008 and 2013 on firmware v5.4.5 or above, so check your firmware too. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm. HID writes this part number with a leading zero, 084511, but you will also see it written 84511 on invoices and supplier quotes — same ribbon either way.
Because it does not print onto the card. The ribbon prints the image onto a clear HDP film, and the film is then fused onto the card surface under heat. That extra step is what lets the HDP5000 print edge to edge and over the uneven surface of a chip card. You consume both: ribbon 084511 and film 084500.
The HID FARGO HDP5000 and HDP5000e. It is not a direct-to-card ribbon and will not fit the DTC1250e, DTC1500, DTC4250e or DTC4500e, and the HDP6600 uses its own ribbons — 084921 for YMCK.
HID specifies the HDP5000 as accepting CR-80 cards from 30 to 50 mil in PET, PETG or polycarbonate, and notes that ABS and PVC cards are not recommended in the HDP5000 lamination module. In practice that means the UltraCard Premium composite 082136 or the polycarbonate 082289.
HID states that FARGO card printers and encoders require highly specialised media to function properly, and that HID warranties are void, where not prohibited by law, when non-HID consumables are used. On a machine where the printhead is the expensive part, that is the whole argument: the media runs against the printhead on every card.
You may see the HDP5000 YMCK ribbon quoted as 84051 — it is the number a lot of UAE suppliers and older purchase records still use. HID’s current HDP5000 specification sheet lists the YMCK ribbon as 084511, with the same 500-image yield and the same description. HID does not publish a cross-reference between the two numbers, and its consumables sheets carry the note that part numbers may vary by region, so we do not claim one formally replaces the other. If your records say 84051, tell us and we will confirm the exact part that ships before you order.
