HID FARGO 045230 YMCKO Colour Ribbon — 700 Images
The genuine HID FARGO 045230 YMCKO ribbon prints a full-colour photo, resin-black text and barcodes, and a protective clear overlay onto a plastic ID card in a single pass — 700 images per roll on the FARGO DTC4500e. More than double the yield of the entry-level DTC1250e ribbon, which is what the DTC4500e is built for.

Yellow, magenta and cyan dye-sublimation panels build the photo; a resin black panel prints crisp text, serial numbers and barcodes; a clear overlay panel goes on top to protect the card against fading and handling.
700 Images per Roll
HID’s highest-yield full-panel YMCKO in the DTC range — 700 printed card sides, against 300 on the DTC1250e’s 045030, so a high-volume issuance desk changes ribbons less than half as often.
Built for the DTC4500e
The DTC4500e is HID’s high-capacity direct-to-card printer, with a 200-card dual-input hopper as standard. The ribbon is sized to match that duty cycle.

- Not for the DTC1250e, DTC1000, DTC1500 or DTC4250e — each of those takes a different YMCKO part number. The DTC1250e uses 045030 (300 images)

Frequently Asked Questions
Open the printer’s ribbon bay — the installed ribbon carries its part number on the label at the end of the core, and the same number is printed on the retail box. On a FARGO DTC4500e the full-colour ribbon is 045230. Send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will confirm before you order. HID writes this part number with a leading zero, 045230, but you will also see it written 45230 on invoices and supplier quotes — same ribbon either way.
The HID FARGO DTC4500e. HID lists 045230 in that printer’s consumables specification sheet only. It is not listed for the DTC1250e, DTC1000, DTC1500 or DTC4250e — the DTC1250e takes 045030 at 300 images, and the DTC4250e takes its own EZ cartridge range. Check the model badge on the printer before ordering.
Y, M and C are the yellow, magenta and cyan dye-sublimation panels that build the full-colour image. K is a resin black panel for sharp text, serial numbers and barcodes. O is a clear overlay laid over the finished card to prevent colour fade. HID rates the 045230 at 700 images — one image is one printed card side, so a dual-sided card uses two.
Only if your cards are pre-printed. The half-panel ribbon puts colour across part of the card only — it is designed for stock that already carries the logo and background, where the printer just adds a photo and a name. If you are printing the whole card from blank, you need the full-panel 045230.
HID states that FARGO card printers and encoders require highly specialised media to function properly, and that HID warranties are void, where not prohibited by law, when non-HID consumables are used. On a machine where the printhead is the expensive part, that is the whole argument: the media runs against the printhead on every card.
