imageFORCE is Canon's newer, unified printer platform that consolidates the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX (A3) and imageCLASS X (A4) families into one scalable range. The C5800 Series belongs to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX generation — still a current, fully supported Canon line, and not being discontinued because of the imageFORCE rollout.

ppm (pages per minute) measures print and copy output — the number of physical pages the engine produces. ipm (images per minute) measures scanning — the number of individual page images (sides) captured, which is why a duplex scan often shows a higher number, e.g. this series scans at up to 270 ipm (2-sided) versus printing at up to 70 ppm.
