imageFORCE is Canon's newer, unified printer platform that consolidates the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX (A3) and imageCLASS X (A4) families into one scalable range. The DX 6800 Series belongs to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX generation — still a current, fully supported Canon line, and not being discontinued because of the imageFORCE rollout.
ppm (pages per minute) measures print and copy output — the number of physical pages the engine produces. ipm (images per minute) measures scanning — the number of individual page images (sides) captured, which is why a duplex scan shows a higher number, e.g. this series scans at up to 270 ipm (2-sided) versus printing at up to 70 ppm.
The series spans three speed tiers — 6855i (55 ppm), 6860i (60 ppm) and 6870i (70 ppm) — sharing the same core feature set, though only the 6855i/6860i support the Inner Finisher-L1 and inner hole-punch options. The right choice depends on monthly print volume, number of users and finishing needs; our team can help size the correct model for your office.
Fax is optional via the Super G3 FAX Board-AX1 (a Remote Fax Kit and IP Fax Expansion Kit are also available as options) — it is not fitted as standard.
