The CR-120 reads up to 120 cheques a minute — 12,000 a day — cross-checking MICR and OCR results on every one, and prints an endorsement on the back with its built-in imprinter as it scans. Need-to-Know
The CR-120 is Canon's high-speed counter scanner, well ahead of the compact CR-L1 and matched by the CR-150 range at even higher speed.
- USB only — there is no network or Wi-Fi connection on this model. It scans to the computer it is plugged into. The CR-120N/LAN version is not part of this raw source and is not stated here.
- The ink cartridge for the built-in imprinter is not included with the scanner — Canon's own footnote states it is sold separately.
- Windows only. Canon publishes no macOS driver for the CR-120, and its Windows driver list names Vista, 7, 8.1 and 10 (plus Server 2008 R2/2012 R2). If you run Windows 11, ask us to confirm current driver support before you order.
- A CR-120 UV variant of this model adds UV sensors for anti-fraud detection at the same 120 cpm speed — see the CR-120 UV page if that matters to you.
- The magnetic swipe reader is an optional accessory that installs into the scanner body; it is not fitted as standard.
