Need-to-Know

  • Maximum capacity is an upgrade. The 900-sheet figure needs the optional Cassette Feeding Module-AH1; as supplied the printer holds 350 sheets across a 250-sheet cassette and a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray.
  • The bundled toner is a starter cartridge. It is rated for about 1,500 pages, so budget for a full-yield Cartridge 070 (3,000 pages) or 070H (10,200 pages) for ongoing use.
  • Print only — no scan, copy or fax. This is a single-function printer. If you need those functions in the same device, the Canon i-SENSYS MF series covers the same speed range.
  • Linux drivers are a web download. Canon distributes them online only, so they are not on the software media supplied in the box.
  • A PCL5e driver is not supplied. The device understands PCL5e commands, but Canon does not ship a PCL5e driver — use the UFRII, PCL6 or PostScript3 driver instead.
