The QL-800 is a USB-tethered desktop printer built for volume: DK rolls print at up to 148 mm per second in standard black-on-white mode. There is no keypad — labels are designed and sent from P-touch Editor on a connected PC, so a whole batch of address or shipping labels prints in one run.
Prints black and red on the same DK roll
Loaded with a compatible red-and-black DK roll, the QL-800 prints both colours in one pass, dropping to 24 mm per second for that two-colour mode. It is useful for warning labels, price flashes or anything that needs colour to stand out without a second cartridge or a dedicated colour printer.
DK rolls up to 62 mm wide
Brother's DK die-cut and continuous roll system runs up to a 62 mm roll width, with a printable width up to 58 mm. One printer covers small barcode and address labels through to wide shipping and file labels, loaded as a drop-in roll rather than a ribbon and tape cassette.

- No wireless or network connectivity — the QL-800 connects only by USB, so it sits right at the PC or till it is tethered to. If you need Wi-Fi, Ethernet or Bluetooth, the QL-820NWB in this range has them.
- Black-and-red two-colour printing needs a compatible red/black DK roll loaded. On standard black-on-white DK rolls, only black prints.
- This is a DK-roll printer, not a TZe tape machine — it does not take Brother's P-touch laminated tape cassettes, so existing TZe tape will not fit it.
- High-resolution printing (300 dpi x 600 dpi) is a selectable mode, not the default — everyday printing runs at 300 dpi x 300 dpi.
