The PT-P900W prints laminated TZe labels up to 36 mm wide at 360 dpi and 60 mm per second, driven from a PC, a Mac or a phone rather than from a keypad — so the artwork, the barcodes and the database behind them live where you already work. Its advanced cutter turns a run of labels into one continuous easy-peel strip, in order, ready to apply.

60 mm/sec at 360 dpi — the fast end of P-touch
Twice the print speed and twice the resolution of the handheld P-touch machines. At 360 dpi small type stays legible and 1D and 2D barcodes scan first time, which matters when the label is the only thing identifying a cable, a panel or an asset. A 32 mm print height on 36 mm tape means near edge-to-edge artwork rather than a stripe down the middle.
3.5 mm to 36 mm on genuine TZe laminated tape
The full TZe width range on one machine, so a 6 mm cable flag and a 36 mm shelf label come off the same printer on the same laminated stock. TZe tape is six layers with the print sealed between two PET films, tested against abrasion, chemicals, sunlight and temperature — it is the reason a P-touch label is still readable years later.
Driven from your PC, Mac or phone — not a keypad
USB and Wi-Fi, with free P-touch Editor design software for Windows and Mac. Pull names straight from an Excel sheet or a CSV to batch-print a whole rack or a whole asset register in one pass, use the fonts already on your machine, and drop in logos. From a phone or tablet the free Brother apps print simple labels and cable wraps without starting a computer.

Need-to-Know
Three P-touch machines that print without a keypad, and the one thing that separates them. All three take genuine TZe laminated tape; what changes is how wide, how fast and how they connect.
- This machine has no keyboard. It prints only from a connected PC, Mac, phone or tablet — if you need a labeller that works standalone on a bench, look at the keypad P-touch models instead.
- Brother's P9-series brochure lists heat-shrink HSe tubing for the range, but the PT-P900W's own published specification lists TZe laminated tape only. If heat-shrink is the reason you are buying, confirm with us first — the PT-P950NW is the model Brother lists it against.
- Battery operation is a two-part option: the PA-BB-002 battery base and the PA-BT-4000LI rechargeable battery are both sold separately, and the printer ships with an AC adapter only.
- Wired Ethernet, the optional Bluetooth module and the standalone Touch Panel Display are PT-P950NW features. They are not available on the PT-P900W, whatever a series brochure covering both models may suggest.
- Numbering and multi-block printing are not supported on this model. Sequential runs are done from the connected design software instead.

The PT-P950NW is the same print engine as the PT-P900W with wired networking added, plus HSe heat-shrink tape support and the option of a Touch Display Unit for printing without a computer. If nothing on your network needs a cable, you never print heat-shrink and nobody prints at the machine itself, the PT-P900W does the same job.

No. Brother's specification lists the keyboard as not available, and that is deliberate — the PT-P900W is designed to be driven from P-touch Editor on a PC or Mac, or from the Brother apps on a phone or tablet. If you need to type a label at the machine itself, one of the keypad P-touch models is the right choice.

It prints 1D symbologies including CODE39, CODE128, ITF 2/5, EAN13, EAN8, UPC-A, UPC-E, CODABAR and GS1-128, and 2D codes including QR Code, PDF417, Data Matrix and Aztec — 21 protocols in total through P-touch Editor 5.1. At 360 dpi the modules are crisp enough to scan reliably at small label sizes.
Yes, and it is the main reason to choose this machine over a handheld. P-touch Editor links to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or a .csv file and merges the rows onto your label template, so a full patch panel, asset register or shelf run prints in a single pass. The advanced cutter half-cuts each label so the strip stays in order and peels one at a time.
Only with the optional battery kit. The printer ships with an AC adapter, and battery operation needs both the PA-BB-002 battery base and the PA-BT-4000LI rechargeable Li-ion battery, which are sold separately. With those fitted it will print on a trolley, on a site or anywhere without a socket.
