Brother Genuine MK Tape
Brother MK Tape Non-Laminated Label Tape 12mm x 8m — six colours
Genuine Brother MK tape — 12mm x 8m, in six colour combinations. Choose your colour above; every option on this page is the same 12mm cassette and fits the same machines. MK is part of Brother's M tape system, the cassette the small P-touch handhelds take: the PT-65, PT-70, PT-80, PT-85, PT-90 and PT-M95. It is a different system from TZe tape and the two do not interchange, so check which cassette your machine has before ordering.
Key Features
For the PT-65 to PT-90 Class
M tape is the cassette the small P-touch handhelds take. It is not a cheaper version of TZe and the two do not swap: a TZe cassette will not load in an M-tape machine, or the other way round.
Built for Indoor Work
Unlaminated, standard adhesive, flat dry surfaces. Files, shelves, folders, storage boxes, kitchen jars — the everyday indoor labelling this machine class was made for.
12mm x 8m
A full 8-metre cassette in the 12mm width, the wider of the two sizes these machines take.

M tape is for the small PT-65 to PT-90 handhelds: unlaminated, indoor, standard adhesive. TZe is for everything from the PT-H110 upwards: laminated, rated -80°C to +150°C, water and chemical resistant. Check which cassette your machine currently has before ordering. All six colours are genuine Brother cassettes in the same 12mm size. The same tape is also stocked in 9mm — each is its own page, because the width has to match your machine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Only if your machine takes M tape — the PT-65, PT-70, PT-80, PT-85, PT-90 and PT-M95 class. M tape and TZe tape are two separate Brother systems and the cassettes do not interchange in either direction. The quickest check is to look at the cassette already in the machine: if it says TZe, this is not the right tape — you need the TZe cassette in the width and colour you want instead.
Because it is a simpler product, not a discounted one. M tape is a single unlaminated layer for indoor use on flat dry surfaces. TZe is six layers with the text sealed inside, which is what buys the -80°C to +150°C range, the chemical resistance and the outdoor life. If your machine takes M tape you cannot use TZe anyway, so the price difference is not a choice you get to make.
It depends entirely on how long your labels are and what margin the machine is set to, so any single figure would be misleading. What is fixed is the cassette length: 8 metres. As a rough guide, a 40mm label consumes about 50mm of tape once the machine's leading and trailing margins are added, so an 8m cassette gives you roughly 160 of them. Set a narrower margin in the machine's settings and you get noticeably more.
No — this is an indoor tape. M tape is unlaminated with standard adhesive, so it has none of the water, chemical, UV or temperature protection that laminated TZe tape has. For anything outdoors, damp, hot or handled, you want a TZe cassette and a machine that takes one.
