What the numbers mean in real work
Print throughput
If you regularly push CAD sets in bursts, the Canon’s ~17s per A1 saves minutes over a job run vs ~25s on the HP — noticeable in shared queues or walk-up prints.
Scan/copy parity
Both MFPs offer 600-dpi optics and similar 200–300 dpi scan speeds (≈1.5 ips color / 4.5 ips mono). Either will comfortably handle mark-ups, redlines, and archiving.
PDF workflow
TM-350 prints PDFs via driver/Direct Print & Share; HP T850 relies on HP Click/drivers for PDF. If you want native PDF in the device language set, Canon’s TM-355 (not this TM-350) adds that capability.
Media versatility
Canon’s LUCIA TD pigment set is well-regarded for sharp lines and durable posters. HP’s platform prioritizes ease with Click/Smart App and tidy A3–A1 workflows.
Which MFP should you pick?
Choose Canon TM-350 MFP (Lm36) if…
- You value faster A1 output for CAD sets and posters.

Choose HP DesignJet T850 MFP if…
- You want HP Click and HP Smart App for team-friendly PDF submission.
- Your users live in mixed A3–A1 workflows and benefit from the integrated tray experience.
- You’re standardizing on HP Wolf Pro Security and HP fleet tools.
Need higher-end scanning (1200 dpi, longer lengths)? Canon also offers a TM-350 MFP Z36 bundle with an upgraded scanner. See note below.
